OVERVIEW OF YEARLY REPORTS
The Eastern Slopes Grizzly Bear Project has produced an annual report
for each year of its existence thus far (1994-1997 inclusive). Each report
contains information for that particular year on:
* Grizzly bear capture data in the Bow River Watershed.
* Grizzly bear trapping success in the Bow River Watershed.
* Status of all grizzly bears captured in the Bow River Watershed.
* Unduplicated grizzly bear females with cubs of the year in the Bow
River Watershed.
* Reproductive status of known female grizzly bears in the Bow River
Watershed.
* Summary of grizzly bear mortalities in the Bow River Watershed.
* Summary of grizzly bear translocations in the Bow River Watershed.
In addition to the yearly information, each annual report has specific
information on various aspects of our research:
Year 1 (1994)
* Measures of genetic diversity in various populations of North
American grizzly bears.
* Summary of serum chemistry values for grizzly bears captured in the

North American brown bear populations (taken from Waits et al. 1996, with
additional new data).
* Serum chemistry analysis
Year 3 (1996)
* Home ranges of all radio-collared male grizzly bears 1994 - 1996.
* Home ranges of all radio-collared female grizzly bears 1994 - 1996.
Year 4 (1997)
* Population estimate based on DNA hair sampling
* Critique of population estimation based on DNA hair sampling
