Mount Assiniboine Lodge is accessible only by helicopter, hiking, or skiing. We are located adjacent to Banff National Park in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, B.C., just a three hour drive from the Calgary International Airport. A spectacular helicopter flight from a site west of Canmore, Alberta brings you to this historic log lodge on the Great Divide (the Great Divide forms the border between Alberta and British Columbia). There are also options to hike or ski 17 miles (28 km) to the lodge while your gear is flown in by helicopter.
Cross country ski, snowshoe or hike in one of British Columbia’s most unique wilderness parks. Assiniboine Provincial Park is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mount Assiniboine itself (11,844 feet/ 3,610 meters) is Canada’s "Matterhorn" located in a spectacular wilderness setting.
The lodge is situated at an elevation of 7,200 feet (2,180 meters). Assiniboine Lodge is now owned by B.C. Parks and has been managed by Sepp and Barb Renner since 1983. The Renner’s family-run operation provides affordable full-service packages at the lodge which include all meals, lodging, winter and summer guiding and helicopter access. We offer unique and personalized guided skiing and hiking experiences. The terrain at Assiniboine is suitable for both beginner and expert skiers and hikers of all ages. The guided interpretive programs combine participation and camaraderie with environmental education. The lodge’s guides are trained and supervised by Sepp Renner, a certified U.I.A.G.M professional mountain guide. The lodge’s historical programs present Canadian mountain traditions and the cultural history of the area.

Built by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1928, Mount Assiniboine Lodge is rustic and comfortable with space for thirty guests per night.
Enjoy the swish of cross-country skis on the trail, breaking the silence of crisp winter days. Follow well-established trails from flower-filled meadows to ridge tops and adjoining valleys in the summer and fall.
