Accommodations of Banff and the Canadian Rockies

Accommodation of Banff and the Canadian Rockies

Banff, Alberta

There is a simple reason why people keep flooding into Banff season after season. It is unforgettably beautiful and of course it is the home of Mountain Man. The list of activities to do, wildlife to see, and accommodations to choose from is almost endless. Despite the economic situation that people love to talk about, Banff and Canada have moved ahead of our American neighbors in the tourism rankings. Banff is as booming as ever and with the summer season not far off, your fourth favorite Mountain Man is here to help you pick the lodging that best suits your wants and budget.

Hotels

Banff is home to some of the best and most environmentally friendly hotels on this little planet we call home. Have a look at our Accommodations section for a quick run down on what Banff offers, and keep an eye on my blogs for specials that different hotels offer. A little tip for those looking to save a buck or two – Canmore is only 20 minutes from Banff and you can save a good percentage by choosing to stay here. Canmore, in itself, is a gorgeous little town.

B&B’s

I have spent some of my finest nights around the Canadian Rockies in B&B’s. They provide something which not many hotels can, a down to earth friendliness and a home-cooked breakfast to fill the belly of a Mountain Man. The Away Inn B&B has been one of my favorites for a long time, but make your own mind up in our B&B section.

Camping camping

Whether tucked up in all my warmest winter gear or chilling out under the stars, camping the Rockies is one of my favorite things to do. After a long day of hiking, collapsing into a well-made tent makes for the most deserved and comfortable sleep you are likely to have. There are campsites all over Banff National Park, Jasper, Lake Louise, Waterton and Canmore, so take your pick!

Couch Surfing

I can hear you asking, “What the heck is couch surfing?” Well, I skeptically asked this same question a few months back. Couch Surfing, my fellow penniless friends, is the way forward. A young American called Casey Fenton realized back in 2003 that people might be willing to share their couch with travelers who are visiting their town. Essentially it is as easy as creating a profile and asking a few Rockies locals if there is space for you for a night or two. Easy, cheap and a great way to meet locals!

Thanks so much for mentioning couch surfing. I am a Canadian musician Living in Playa del Carmen Mexico. My partner and I are coming to Canada to perform our spanish flair of main stream and traditional music. We are wanting to be in Banff and since I have accepted couch surfers here in Mexico I am looking into a place that will accept the 2 of us. If you know of where we could stay as couch surfers in Banff it would be greatly appreciated.I have been having a hard time finding a place. Thanks!
