Eating in Banff – the Magpie and Stump Restaurant

Banff National Park, Alberta

There are some superb restaurants in Banff to choose from. Whether you are looking for the simple burger option in a place like Eddie’s or a vegetarian’s heaven such as Nourish Bistro, Banff has a lot of great options considering its size. The Magpie and Stump has long been a favourite for locals as well as tourists. Though it is kind of Mexican themed, it is hard to put into a category. You could go in there to watch a game and have a beer or a margarita. You could stay there all Saturday night and have a great time or you could bring the family along for a delicious meal in fun surroundings.

The Magpie and Stump is an excellent option for dining in Banff.

Located on Caribou Street just a short hop from Banff Avenue, the Magpie and Stump stands out. It is hard to miss with its shack themed building. It has a little outdoor area where you could enjoy some mid afternoon beers when the sun is shining. Inside it is decorated in a unique Mexican/Canadian way if that is even possible. The music is loud and the atmosphere is definitely a fun one. The most important thing, of course, is the food and it is not a disappointment. The two big Q’s are certainly satisfied. Quantity wise – you will find it hard to waddle out of the restaurant. The quality is also superb.

The nachos are delicious and the perfect starter to share between 2 to 3 people. The choices for main course are endless with burgers, pizzas, burritos and fajitas all on offer. Price wise, it is very fair and you certinaltly get what you pay for. Considering its central location, excellent service, good prices and delectable food – the Magpie and Stump must go down as one of the best options for dining in Banff.
