SilverTip
March 26th, 2008
Located in Canmore, Alberta, SilverTip is known as one of the most
competitive courses in North America. Designed by Les Furber, this
world-renowned Alberta, Canada course was created to challenge golfers.
According to Schultz, Silver Tip can be daunting for beginners, as it a
shot-makers course that demands accuracy.
With its dramatic elevation changes (from 1,310 meters to 1,560 meters),
and playable from 5,000 yards to a championship 7,200 yards, golfing at
SilverTip has been compared to a day of mountain climbing. Surrounded by
towering mountains, the Bow River, crystal clear trout ponds, and hours of
sunshine, SilverTip has been awarded four and a half stars in Golf Digest,
third place in Westworld Magazine’s top ten golf destinations in Canada,
and the Silver Award for Best Scenery for SCOREGolf’s 2003 Golfers Choice
Awards. With a panoramic view of Canmore, Alberta, SilverTip is a
convenient 90 km from Calgary and 23 km from Banff National Park.
One of the many features at SilverTip includes the Timbers Clubhouse,
build over a half century ago. Its rustic charm compliments the fusion
cuisine found in the innovative restaurant, the welcoming hearth, and
comfortable furnishings.
SilverTip includes a fully stocked pro-shop, with all the requisite brands
as well as equipment rentals. As a soft-spike facility, golfers are
required to wear non-metal spiked golf shows or soft soled shoes. Spike
replacements are easily found at the Pro Shop.
Looking to improve your game? Take some lessons from one of SilverTip’s
