Banff Trail - This
is the only trail at the Nordic Centre recommended for
beginning skiers. This two way trail runs 6 krn through
the centre of the site to the boundary of Banff National
Park. Skiers using this trail may turn around at any
point. But please, for your safety and the safety of
others, always keep to the right hand set of tracks.
Beyond the western
boundary of the Canmore Nordic Centre the trail is not
maintained or easily identifiable and is suitable for ski
touring only. From this point it is 14 km to the Banff
Springs Golf Course.
Recreational 2.5 km
Loop - This trail is lighted for night skiing and
utilizes part of the biathlon race course. You may see
biathletes with rifles while skiing this trail, but the
rifles are safe (bolts removed) and cannot be fired. The
trail has a full range of degrees of difficulty.
Recreational 5 km Loop -
Skiing this loop will take you through some of the most
scenic areas of the site. This trail is also part of the
biathlon race course. There are some major elevation
changes along this route so you should be prepared for a
strenuous trip. This trail is technically easier than the
other Recreational trails except for the Banff Trail.
Recreational 10 km Loop - This trail leaves the stadium area by going under
the bridge at the west end of the stadium. The trail has
numerous up and down hill sections and will take you
around a large meadow near the middle of the Nordic
Centre. There are fine views of the Bow River valley and
the town of Canmore.
Recreational 15 km Loop - This trail extends the full length of the Canmore
Nordic Centre. it is a demanding outing due to its length
and full range of degrees of difficulty. |
