RIBBON
CREEK IN THE WINTER
The serene, snow-covered forests and meadows
are waiting for your discovery on ski trails interspersed
throughout Ribbon Creek and Marmot Basin.
About 58.5 km (36.5 miles)
of trail are provided for your enjoyment in this area of
Kananaskis Country. Another 78 km (49 miles) of
cross-country skiing Opportunity awaits you in Peter
Lougheed provincial Park, 27 m (16- miles) south of
Ribbon Creek. Nearer to Calgary approximately 40 km (25
miles) of cross-country ski trails are located northwest
of the town of Bragg Creek and still another 36 km (22.5
miles) of trails are available at the Sandy McNabb
recreational area west of Turner Valley, The Canmore
Nordic Centre features 56 km (34.8 miles) of trails designed to meet recreational and
competitive cross-country ski standards. In the Spray
Lakes Valley, there are 35.5 km (22 miles) of trails at
Smith-Dorrien, and 19 km (11.9 miles) of trails available
at Mt. Shark.
INTERPRETIVE
OPPORTUNITIES
Kananaskis Country offers
a unique service to groups visiting the area. An
interpretive naturalist can provide an entertaining
program at your group meeting regarding recreational
opportunities or the natural and cultural history of a
specific area. The interpreter can also arrange to join
your group at one of several ski areas in Kananaskis
Country for an informative cross-country ski tour. For
