Columbia Icefield Tours

On the boundary of Banff and Jasper National Parks, two of the most amazing places in the Canadian Rockies, you’ll find the Columbia Icefield. This is one of the largest and most accessible ice fields south of the Arctic Circle, weighing in at 325 square kilometres. From Icefields Parkway, the road that will take you to the icefields, you’ll see several huge glaciers, including Athabasca and Stutfield.

Built during the late 1930′s, and then known as the ‘Banff-Jasper Highway’, this road was designed as a tourist route. Construction crews followed an old trail that the Brewster brothers had been using to carry adventureous tourists on horseback along a six-day journey between Lake Louise and Jasper.
