Team Building Program
September 1 to June 30
Our Experience:
Canmore Caverns offers a range of caving activities to corporations
from an informal sport's day to a more formal leadership and teamwork
development program. At all levels, the activity of caving offers
a natural "teamwork" process as participants are required
to assist each other in unfamiliar situations. Generally, a high
degree of bonding results from this. This activity may challenge
one's comfort zone so good group chemistry is very effective in
overcoming fears. While the guide's main role is to ensure safe
passage through the cave and observe cave conservation protocol
(the cave is a Provincial Historic Site), they are also on hand
to interpret the cave's natural history should anyone be interested
(e.g. cave biology, archaeology and geology).
Formal Team Building:
Formal team building groups self-navigate through the cave complex
using maps to reach a certain destination, e.g. the Grotto - 55m
below the entrance. Within a group of 4-8 persons, each member is
assigned a role. Team leaders are required to coordinate responsibilities
for: navigation, reconnaissance, communication and group well-being.
A debriefing session is provided to discuss communication skills,
how strategies can be improved, etc., as participants often gain
insights and awareness that can be integrated into their work environment.
Details:
- We take a maximum of 32 persons (4 groups of 8 spaced 10 minutes
apart).
- We can enter the cave in the morning or afternoon but 6 hours
should be allowed for large groups, and 4.5 hours for smaller
ones. We prefer to run our corporate activities outside of the
peak season of July and August. Spring, autumn and winter are
very good seasons as the cave stays a constant 5°C year-round.

a rappel (Adventure Tour) for small groups. Six hours is required
for the latter activity.
- Snacks and lunches can be provided at an additional cost of
$15 per person.
- Transportation and transfers are available from local providers
at an additional cost.
- All guides and equipment are provided.
- All persons entering the cave must sign a waiver, our liability
insurance is $10 million per occurrence; your corporation can
be named on our insurance. We have risk management and emergency
evacuation plans in place; these details can be sent to you on
request.

the activity. No changes to final numbers may be made after this
