The “Sunburst” Canoe AdventureThe “Sunburst” Canoe Adventure is the perfect way to start your day in the Rockies! Paddle with your guide on the peaceful waters of pristine mountain lake. This is a great time of day for animal sightings in this area so keep watch for loons, eagles, osprey, and more! all with the backdrop of the majestic Rocky Mountains. No experience is required for this tour and all necessary paddling and safety equipment will be provided by your guide. Coffee and fresh baked goods will be provided as well! Transportation included. Columbia Icefields Tour

The Columbia Icefields Tour is a must do if you are in the Jasper Region. The Icefield Parkway is considered one of the most scenic roadways in the world. This is the best way to experience this famous highway and to see all the sights along the way! Travel from Jasper to the Columbia Icefield with a stop at the beautiful Athabasca Falls en route to the Athabasca Glacier. When you arrive at the Columbia Icefield Centre you will have an opportunity to take part in a 90-minute ‘Ice-explorer’ tour onto the glacier, and/or explore the Glacier Skywalk overlooking the Sunwapta Valley. You may also choose to enjoy the interpretive exhibit at the Icefield Centre or take a short guided walk to a scenic view point. Keep your camera close at hand for spotting bears, bighorn sheep, moose, and mountain goats! Explore local constellations, the Northern Lights, the Milky Way, right to the edge of the universe from Jasper Dark Sky Preserve.

In 2011, Jasper was designated the world’s largest Dark Sky Preserve by the Royal Astronomy Society in Canada, (11,000-square-kilometre of stargazing), for its low light pollution that creates ideal conditions for astronomical viewing.

In addition to being the world’s largest most accessible dark sky preserve, Jasper is also one of the smallest towns in North America with it’s very own planetarium.

Important terminology & things to know:

Planetarium vs Observatory
A Planetarium is a domed theatre that simulates the night sky by use of a projection system. In contrast, an Observatory is a building that houses one-or-more telescopes, for live viewing, under a retractable domed roof.

While we do have telescopes, and we do offer an educational Telescope Experience… we are not an observatory.)

We operate rain or shine / clear sky or cloud covered, even when snowing. We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. We will not refund “No Shows”.

Jasper Skytram

“Jasper’s Peak Attraction” package includes round-trip transportation to the Jasper Skytram plus your ticket to the top. This is the longest and highest aerial tramway in the Rockies! Your Skytram Guide will provide a fully narrated tour during the seven-minute ride to the top of Whistler’s Mountain. Take in the breathtaking views from the visitor’s centre or hike to the summit. Both of our unique Train Tours will transport you along the shores of the mighty Fraser River and into British Columbia’s stunning Robson Valley.

Jasper Train Tour-Dunster Station

Jasper Train Tour-Dunster StationThis amazing Train Journey and Sightseeing Tour starts from the Jasper Train Station and culminates in Dunster, British Columbia. You will first enjoy approximately 3 hours of “Train Time” aboard Via’s luxurious Skeena Train. Upon arrival at the Historic Dunster Train Station, you will be greeted by our SunDog Driver/Guide and vehicle for your return sightseeing journey to Jasper. On your return journey, you will visit Rearguard Falls, famous for being the easternmost waterfall which the salmon ascend during their journey from the Pacific Ocean to their spawning grounds; and Mount Robson, the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres (12,970 feet). Each stop offers incredible photo opportunities plus a chance to get some fascinating information from your guide about the rich history, geology, and ecology of the region.

Jasper Train Tour-McBride StationSlightly longer than the Dunster Station tour, offered on different days and in the reverse direction! SunDog Tours offers up another exciting version of our Train Tours. This train tour variation will have you start off from Jasper on a guided sightseeing tour and return to Jasper on the Via Skeena Train departing from the McBride Train station. Similar stops are completed on this slightly longer version of the Dunster tour, with Rearguard Falls and Mount Robson ranking high on the list. Explore a little further into British Columbia along the Robson Valley with the snow capped Cariboo Mountains on one side, the majestic Rocky Mountains on the other as you make your way to the quaint McBride Train Station.

Mount Edith Cavell Tour

The Mount Edith Cavell Tour follows the “Path of the Glacier” trail though one of Jasper’s most stunning landscapes. This is one of the most spectacular adventures that we offer and should not be missed by anyone visiting Jasper National Park! Your guide will transport you to and from the Jasper townsite and along the Path of the glacier while providing enlightening interpretation of the local ecology, geology, and history. The walk usually requires 1.5 hours to complete and is 1.6 km (1 mile) in length and gains 170 ft of elevation over half of this distance. Most people find this walk to be of little to moderate difficulty to achieve. On this hike you will experience the majesty of Mount Edith Cavell towering over a mile above you. You may even see icebergs calve off the Angel Glacier and cascade into Cavell Pond.

Mount Edith CavellThis tour lasts approximately three hours. Please ensure you have water, closed toe footwear, and a jacket. This tour is operational for a relatively short period of the year due to seasonal closures of the road by Parks Canada. This tour operates June 26th through to October 15th.

Maligne Valley Sightseeing Tour

The Maligne Valley Sightseeing Tour is an amazing guided interpretive drive up the Maligne Valley. Our exploration will include a stop at Maligne Canyon for a gentle guided walk to the first two bridges above the gorge, a short stop at the “disappearing” Medicine Lake, and finally Maligne Lake. At this picturesque gem of the Canadian Rockies you can choose to participate on a Maligne Lake boat cruise to world famous Spirit Island or enjoy a guided hike along the Mary Schaffer Loop (3.2km / 2mile – weather and trail conditions permitting). The Maligne Valley Tour is mainly a nature, scenic, and geological voyage but it is also an excellent opportunity to see some of Jasper’s wildlife.

Jasper to Banff Winter Tour

sundogs3JASPER, Alberta – See many of the Canadian Rockies main attractions on an interpretive tour running from Jasper to Banff, Alberta. Jasper Vacations Tours operates guided tours between two of Alberta’s most scenic mountain towns including a stop at the Columbia Icefields between destinations.

The tour follows Canada’s most scenic highway, the Icefields Parkway, and stops at several scenic and popular sightseeing destinations along the way. Jasper Vacations offers either a one way excursion ending in Banff or Lake Louise or the option to continue back to Jasper. The tour lasts between 6 and 12 hours depending on whether you decide on a one-way or round-trip excursion.

On the tour, you will see Bow Lake, the Weeping Wall, Crowfoot Glacier, Athabasca Falls and Sunwapta Falls. The highlight of the tour is a stop at the Athabasca Glacier where visitors can take the opportunity to ride the Snowcoach Tour onto the glacial fields.

Trek through prime wildlife sighting terrain while admiring the natural splendor of the canyon. The tour follows the steels walkways that were built into the canyon walls, providing a safe and exciting winter adventure.

The Johnston Canyon Icewalk is about four hours in length and passes by the popular upper and lower waterfalls transformed into ice sculptures by the winter temperatures.
